Columbia Classic Jazz Band is the brain child of musicians Garry Powell and Wayne Travillion. who have long wanted to play in a group together to recapture some of the fun they had for many years in Honolulu as traditional Dixieland musicians.
The members of the new CCJB are all renowned in the Portland area and are familiar to trad jazz lovers around the state. Although the guys are friends and have played together in various combinations over the years, this particular combination is an exciting first.
In addition to playing many of your regular trad favorites, CCJB will include many other great but lesser played tunes a la Turk Murphy, Clancy Hayes, Jack Teagarden, Firehouse Five and others. CCJB plays with a fun laid back gusto.
